Vietnam Declares USA As Its Strategic Partner After Putin’s Visit

Vietnam views the United States as a vital strategic partner in the realms of economy and investment, according to Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

Recently, Daniel Kritenbrink, the Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, visited Vietnam and had a meeting with the Vietnamese Foreign Minister.

“Vietnam is ready to collaborate with the United States to advance a comprehensive strategic partnership, aiming for effective, stable, and meaningful development while respecting each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political systems,” stated Bui Thanh Son following the meeting.

Meanwhile, Kritenbrink reiterated the US commitment to supporting “a strong, independent, self-reliant, and prosperous Vietnam.”

It’s notable that Mr. Kritenbrink arrived in Vietnam just a day after Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s visit. Putin’s visit led to the signing of over a dozen agreements on bilateral cooperation in education, medicine, energy, and defense.
