Vice President Kamala Harris shared her thoughts on former President Donald Trump’s recent conviction during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Harris expressed her views on the trial, which concluded with a jury finding Trump guilty of 34 felony counts.

Speaking candidly with the late-night host, Harris emphasized the fairness and thoroughness of the legal process. “A jury of 12 people, over the course of six weeks, deliberated on the evidence and facts and unanimously determined guilt on 34 felony counts,” she explained, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

“There was a defense attorney who actively participated in selecting that jury, who actively made decisions about witnesses to call, witnesses to cross-examine, and the jury made their decision.”

Harris didn’t hold back on her assessment of the situation, stating, “I think the reality is cheaters don’t like getting caught and being held accountable.” She also looked ahead to the upcoming presidential election, noting, “The reality is, let’s just fast-forward to November. I think the American people want to know that there is a president who believes they are accountable to the people.”

Former President Donald Trump has been convicted of causing the falsification of checks, invoices, and ledgers to hide a payment to Stormy Daniels. This effort was aimed at concealing violations of campaign finance and tax laws, according to a report by Time. Trump has the opportunity to appeal his conviction after his sentencing on July 11.

Despite this legal setback, Trump’s support among registered voters remains steady. A survey from Emerson College Polling, reported by The Hill on June 6, shows that 46 percent of registered voters nationwide continue to support Trump, unchanged from previous polls.

The survey also reveals varying opinions on the impact of Trump’s conviction. Forty percent of respondents said the conviction had no effect on their voting decision for the upcoming presidential election in November. One-third indicated they are now less likely to support Trump, while 27 percent said the conviction makes them more likely to back the former President.
