Trump Picked Worst Possible Spot For New Border Wall Stunt
During a recent visit to Montezuma Pass, Arizona, Donald Trump proudly described a section of the border wall as the “Rolls Royce” of walls.
However, there’s a catch: according to the Washington Post, this particular segment of the wall was actually constructed during President Barack Obama’s administration.
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the section of the border wall where Trump delivered his speech was actually constructed during the Obama administration, according to The Washington Post.
The Post further reported that an adjacent extension project was initiated during the Trump administration at an estimated cost of $35 million per mile.
However, the project saw minimal progress, with much of the construction material left unused at the site.
During his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly promised to build a “big, beautiful wall” spanning the nearly 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border.
Trump has since claimed that he fulfilled this promise.
“I did finish the wall,” he asserted in a CNN interview earlier this year. “I built a wall.”
In reality, he did not.
Trump’s administration replaced about 400 miles of existing barriers and added roughly 52 miles of new wall.
Some sections of the wall constructed during Trump’s tenure were later damaged in storms.
A 2022 report revealed that the wall built under Trump was breached thousands of times using “inexpensive power tools.” Additionally, some reports indicated that the wall could be easily scaled using a rudimentary ladder made from just $5 worth of materials.
Moreover, a report last year highlighted the significant environmental and cultural damage the wall caused to the region.
Trump also pledged that Mexico would finance the wall.
That didn’t happen either.
