Legal experts quickly pointed out that such authorizations are a routine part of law enforcement operations. The same protocols were followed when the FBI searched President Joe Biden’s properties for classified documents, using identical language to that of the Mar-a-Lago search.
Nevertheless, Trump has persisted in his allegations, asserting that Biden directed the FBI to storm Mar-a-Lago “with guns blazing.” In a video, Trump exclaimed, “Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, in their illegal and unconstitutional raid of Mar-a-Lago, authorized the FBI to use deadly lethal force, can you believe that?”
Contrary to Trump’s assertions, this claim is misleading. The authorization of force is a standard precaution, and the DOJ obtained a legal warrant for the Mar-a-Lago search. This warrant was granted by a judge after reviewing evidence suggesting that Trump’s property might contain evidence of a crime.
