Kamala Harris Article Of IMPEACHMENT

Tennessee Republican Representative Andy Ogles has filed articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris, citing her handling of the southern border and her support for Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Harris has been under fire from the GOP since she became a key figure in the Democratic party. Republicans accuse her of concealing President Biden’s cognitive issues and have called for her to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.

The first article of impeachment, titled “Willful Refusal to Uphold Immigration Laws,” criticizes Harris for her alleged inaction on border security and immigration law enforcement in her role as the administration’s “border czar.” The second article, “Breach of Public Trust,” claims that Harris misled both the public and Congress about President Biden’s physical and cognitive health.

With Biden stepping down from the 2024 presidential race, Republicans have renewed their efforts to highlight Harris’s role in the administration’s immigration policies, which have seen record numbers of border crossings.

President Biden appointed Harris early in his term to address the root causes of immigration. However, calls for invoking the 25th Amendment have grown louder, especially after Biden spent six days in Delaware recovering from COVID-19 and ultimately withdrew from the 2024 race following a widely criticized debate performance.

These developments have intensified scrutiny on Harris as she navigates her responsibilities amid ongoing political challenges.

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, first filed a resolution just after the debate to call on Harris ‘to convene the Cabinet and declare President Joe Biden as unable to carry out his duties as Commander-in-Chief.’

Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters on Monday he was still considering whether to put the resolution on the House floor.

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., has called for Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment and on Tuesday introduced articles of impeachment for the vice president failing to uphold border laws.

Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., wrote a letter to every one of Biden’s Cabinet members urging them to invoke the 25th Amendment.

‘If President Biden is willing to admit he is unable to continue to stand as the Democratic Party nominee for President after the primary process due to his health, he is unable to continue to serve as President until January 20, 2025,’ Schmitt said in the letters.

Democrats have scoffed at the notion.

“That’s a Jim Crow-era tactic,” said Rep. Jonathan Jackson, D-Ill., to DailyMail.com. “Let the American people speak. Let’s go and vote. And we should also consider whether a person convicted as a felon has the right to enter public housing, including the White House.”

Democratic Caucus Vice Chair Rep. Ted Lieu called the tactic “totally stupid” when speaking to DailyMail.com. “He has done a phenomenal job as president and will continue to do so. His decision not to run for reelection has nothing to do with his current performance as president.”

Despite knowing their calls might be ignored by the Cabinet, Republicans pressed on.

“We cannot have a Commander in Chief in charge of the nuclear codes experiencing the level of cognitive decline we see in President Biden,” stated Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wis., in his call for the 25th Amendment.

“The 25th amendment looks pretty good right about now,” tweeted Rep. Nancy Mace, R-N.C., in response to a video of Biden, his first appearance in six days.

“She lied then, and she will lie again. Joe Biden is unfit to run for President and, therefore, unfit to serve as President. Yet Vice President Harris lied to the American people and covered it up. We must immediately invoke the 25th Amendment,” wrote Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., on Twitter.

However, it’s the Cabinet and vice president who must agree to invoke the 25th Amendment, not Congress. The resolution aims to increase pressure on them to act.

Even moderate Republicans seem to have little opposition to this drastic measure.

“It’s a sad situation and I feel bad for the president,” Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., told DailyMail.com. “I just hope he’s able to govern.”

“It’s reasonable to ask if someone unfit to run is fit to govern,” said Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D. “The President seems much diminished from just a couple of years ago. The 25th Amendment exists so those closest to the president can assess his ability to perform his duties, and I hope that assessment is ongoing.”

The 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states that if the Vice President and a majority of the principal officers of the executive departments or another body designated by Congress declare in writing that the President is unable to discharge his duties, the Vice President shall assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
