Eric Adams Considering Taking Back Diddy’s Key To The City

Diddy’s recent lawsuits and footage showing him abusing Cassie could significantly impact his relationship with New York City. Mayor Eric Adams has announced that his team is considering revoking the 54-year-old artist’s key to the city, which he received in September 2023.

“I think we were all deeply disturbed by the chilling video of the young woman being assaulted,” Adams told PIX11 in an interview. “Our committee has never rescinded a key before, but we are now discussing our next steps.”

When PIX11 pressed for clarity on whether the key could be taken away, Adams reiterated, “We are reviewing everything, and my team will provide a final decision soon.”

CNN released the disturbing footage on Friday, May 17. The video, from a now-closed Los Angeles hotel in 2016, shows Diddy grabbing Cassie by the neck, throwing her to the ground, kicking her twice, and attempting to drag her back to their room. He is also seen throwing objects at her.

Days later, Diddy posted an apology video. “My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions. I’m disgusted by what I did then and now,” he said. “I sought professional help, went into therapy, and I’m committed to becoming a better man. I’m not asking for forgiveness; I’m truly sorry.”

However, the apology was not well-received, especially given that Diddy had denied all allegations in December 2023. Social media users were also upset that he did not directly address or apologize to Cassie. TMZ later reported that their November 2023 settlement included a non-disclosure agreement preventing them from mentioning each other by name publicly. His lawyers reviewed the apology video to ensure compliance with the settlement terms.

Lil Scrappy was not pleased with Diddy’s actions towards Cassie or his subsequent apology. The Atlanta rapper made it clear he would be ready to fight Diddy if they ever crossed paths. “If that guy Diddy walked past me right now, I’d be ready to throw hands,” Scrappy said. “I don’t care about an apology or anything like that. The way he treated her was wrong. It was some real cowardly behavior. You could tell he had been doing that for a long time because she was so frantic.”

This incident is just one of many in a turbulent 2024 for the “I Need A Girl” artist. Diddy is also facing another sexual assault lawsuit from producer Lil Rod, and his Los Angeles and Miami homes were recently raided by Homeland Security as part of a sex trafficking investigation.
