Lil Nas X stirs things really up with ‘J Christ’ music video

Lil Nas X stirs up with ‘J Christ’ music video, Lil Nas X, known for his knack for stirring controversy, has once again sparked conversation with his latest music video.

Released on Friday, the rapper unveiled the video for “J Christ,” where he is portrayed on a cross, evoking imagery of crucifixion. Building anticipation for the video, the “Industry Baby” artist had previously teased the crucifixion setup on social media earlier in the month, captioning it with a reference to “the man who had the greatest comeback of all time.”

In addition to Lil Nas X’s crucified depiction, “J Christ” is laden with celestial and infernal scenes, reminiscent of his 2021 video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” The video also features celebrity lookalikes, including likenesses of Mariah Carey, former president Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and the artist formerly known as Kanye West.

The Grammy winner has faced criticism in the past for what some perceive as “mocking” Christianity, a sentiment heightened by his infamous unofficial “Satan” Nikes, which make a reappearance in the new video. This controversy led to Nike suing the shoe makers for trademark infringement in 2021.

Expanding on biblical references, the “J Christ” video includes a lavish sequence portraying Lil Nas X as Noah, guiding animals into the ark ahead of the flood. This latest creative venture is sure to contribute to Lil Nas X’s ongoing legacy of pushing boundaries and sparking discussions within the music and cultural landscape.
